Colección: The Recurring Dream

is a series of six paintings depicting five distinct dreamscapes, each serving as a visual record of a recurring vision in which the artist found himself surrounded by towering, surreal rock formations rising above a sea of clouds. rendered with acrylics, stains, and occasional inks on both paper and wood, the works transform fleeting dream imagery into terrains shaped by material textures and layered surfaces. every scene documents a single dream, capturing its atmosphere while allowing memory and imagination to shift the forms into abstraction.

the series culminates with Never Reaching (2024), where a distant tower remains forever inaccessible. at the center of this composition, a solitary figure—just half a centimeter in size—floats on his back, embodying surrender to the dream’s impermanence. through these paintings, WiL Vélez explores longing, acceptance, and the elusive boundary between dream and waking life.
