This painting includes a 12 x 12 in. (30.48 x 30.48 cm) acid-free 4 ply (1/16 in) mat board in cream linen with 6.5 x 6.5 in. (16.51 x 16.51 cm) square cutout and 45-degree white core beveled edge, a 12 x 12 in. clear acrylic pane (3/32 in. depth) with non-glare glazing and OP-3 UV filtering, a 1 1/8 in. (2.857 cm) profile wood frame in gold with 12 x 12 in. opening.

Andesine Liths (2023) is the first in a series of works inspired by a vivid and recurring dreamscape—a vision of towering, surreal rock formations that rise above a sea of clouds. The title references the andesine gemstone, echoing the jewel-toned palette and crystalline quality of the imagined landscape.   

Rendered with long, vertical strokes of the palette knife, the forms evoke eerie spires and ancient ruins, suspended in a space that is both monumental and untethered. The artist sought to capture the elusive nature of dreams, where imagery morphs fluidly and meaning feels just out of reach.    

Each recurrence of the dream led to a new painting, forming an ongoing body of work that explores the boundary between memory and imagination. The materials themselves—cold-pressed paper and wood panel—play an essential role in shaping these compositions, their textures guiding the layered application of stain and pigment as the landscapes emerge from abstraction.
